For Filmode: Film Presets & Editor, version 1.0 · Android 8.0 or newer

Something not working, or a question this page does not answer? Email trunghieu4121993@gmail.com with your phone model, Android version and what you were doing. We read everything. There is no account, so we cannot see your photos or your library — describe what you see, or attach a screenshot.

Adding photos

Tap the add button in Studio and choose photos in Android's photo picker. You can also send photos to Filmode from your gallery or any other app with Share → Filmode, or open one with Edit with → Filmode. Filmode sees only the photos you pick, which is why it never asks for access to your whole gallery.

Each photo is copied into Filmode's own storage. Your original in the gallery is not changed, moved or deleted.

Studio: your library

Studio is where every photo you add lives, with its edit. Edits are non-destructive: nothing is baked in until you export, so you can come back to a photo and change or reset it at any time.

Looks and intensity

A look is a film colour grade. Pick one from the strip under the photo, then slide its intensity from subtle to full. Looks matched to your photo are suggestions worked out on your phone from the photo's colours and content — skin, sky, foliage, night light — so the ones most likely to suit it come first. Mark the looks you use most as favourites, and sort looks into your own categories.

Saving your own presets

A preset is a look plus all your adjustments, saved under a name so you can apply it to any photo in one tap. Save one from the editor when a photo looks the way you want. Crop and text are never part of a preset, because they belong to a single photo.

Importing .cube and .xmp files

Import a .cube LUT or an .xmp preset from the presets panel in the editor; the system file picker opens so you can choose the file from your phone or cloud drive. A .cube file becomes a look. An .xmp preset is translated into Filmode's own adjustments; anything Filmode has no equivalent for is left out, and the app tells you which settings were skipped. Only import files you have the right to use.

Sharing a preset by QR code

To share: choose Share on one of your presets. Filmode shows a QR code you can show on screen, save as an image or send through any app. The code holds only the preset's name and settings — never a photo.

To scan: tap Scan a preset code at the top of Studio and point the phone at the code. Scanning uses Google's code scanner, which runs on your phone, so Filmode does not need camera permission for it. You see the preset's name and how many adjustments it has before you add it.

The Presets Store

The Store has seasonal and trending looks, grouped by mood, with sample pictures. Preview a look on your own photo — the preview is made on your phone and your photo is not uploaded — then add it to your library. Looks you have added stay available offline. The Store itself needs an internet connection; if it does not load, check the connection and try again later. Looks marked Pro need Filmode Pro.

Editor basics

The tools are grouped along the bottom of the editor: light and colour (tone, colour, curves, HSL and colour grading), effects, analog film effects, and tools such as crop. A few habits help:

Exporting

Export writes a new JPEG or PNG into Pictures/Filmode, where your gallery and other apps can see it. Your edit in Studio stays as it is, so you can export again later at another size.

Size (long edge)Who can use it
800, 1080, 2048 or 3840 pixelsEveryone (2048 is the default)
Full resolution — the photo's own sizeFilmode Pro
Custom — any size from 320 to 12,000 pixelsFilmode Pro

Choose the size, the format and the JPEG quality in Settings → Export. Very large exports need a lot of memory; if one fails on an older phone, try a smaller size. To export many photos at once, select them in Studio and export the selection.

Location and Keep EXIF

Keep EXIF, on by default, copies the original photo's date, camera and lens details and exposure settings into the export — and its GPS location, but only if the original photo already had one. Filmode never adds a location to a photo it did not take. Turn Keep EXIF off in the export settings to export without any of it, which is worth doing before you post a photo taken at home.

The built-in camera

The camera is optional. It shows your chosen look live in the viewfinder and can take photos and record video. Android asks for camera permission the first time you open it, and for the microphone the first time you record video with sound. Saving your location in camera photos is off until you switch it on in the camera's settings, and only then does Android ask for location permission. Everything else in Filmode works without any of these permissions.

Filmode Pro

Pro adds the Pro looks and presets, Magic Filter, Replica Filter, and full-resolution and custom-size export. It is available as a monthly or yearly subscription or a one-time lifetime purchase, through Google Play; the prices for your country are shown in the app. Every editing tool, Studio, your own presets, QR sharing and imports stay free. There is no watermark and there are no ads, with or without Pro.

Restoring a purchase

Pro is tied to the Google account that bought it, not to a Filmode account — there isn't one. On a new phone, or after reinstalling, sign in to Google Play with that same account, open the Pro screen and tap Restore. If it says no purchase was found, check which Google account the Play Store is using; if it cannot reach Google Play, check your connection and try again.

Cancelling and refunds

Cancel a subscription in the Google Play app under Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions. Pro stays open until the end of the period you paid for. Uninstalling the app does not cancel a subscription. For a refund, use Google Play's refund request; Google handles payments, so we cannot see or refund your card directly. If Google declines and you think you are owed one, email us with your order ID, which starts with GPA. and is in your Google Play receipt.

Usage and crash reports

Filmode sends anonymous usage counts and crash reports so we can see which features are used and fix crashes. They never include your photos, file names, preset names or location. Switch them off in Settings → Send usage and crash reports. Details are in the Privacy Policy.

Uninstalling and your library

Uninstalling Filmode deletes the Studio library — the copies of your photos and every edit you have not exported — along with your presets and downloaded looks. Export anything you want to keep first, and share presets you care about as QR codes or save their codes as images. Your original photos and everything in Pictures/Filmode are not touched.

Troubleshooting

Reporting a bug

Email trunghieu4121993@gmail.com with your phone model, Android version, Filmode version, and the steps that lead to the problem. A screenshot or screen recording helps a lot. If a photo matters to the bug, you can attach it — that is the only way we would ever see it.
